The overcomers

« Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. » Hebrews 12.4. The believer in Jesus-Christ is in a long spiritual war until his death. That spiritual war against sin, the world, the ennemy of our souls never stops. We are in that battle and we haven’t yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. Jesus-Christ resisted unto blood, with bloody sweat at Gethsemane, going to the cross and winning with His resurrection. He is the great overcomer. And we as his disciples should be overcomers of sins, temptations, trials, spiritual battles. The overcomer never cease overcoming until death. He is in constant battle against the flesh, the world, Satan. Everyday the Holy Spirit convinces him of sin. He is in a constant repentance mode. When he stops being in repentance mode, it is a sign of spiritual regression. He may not be fighting against sins related to power, sex or money but the Holy Spirit continues to work in him bringing him to repentance of the little sneaky sin that may arise in him. As we are at almost in the end of the end times, the battle is fierce. The overcomer never gives up, even if the flesh is weak. For « there has no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it. » There is a reward for the overcomer at the end of his journey on earth. Jesus-Christ has promised many rewards to overcomers. « To him that overcomes will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the middle of the paradise of God. He that overcomes shall not be hurt of the second death.  To him that overcomes will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knows saving he that receives it. And he that overcomes, and keeps my works to the end, to him will I give power over the nations:  And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.  And I will give him the morning star. He that overcomes, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.  Him that overcomes will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from my God: and I will write on him my new name. To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. »

Do you want to be an overcomer ? Believe in the gospel of Jesus-Christ, the gospel of the kingdom of God ! And it will be « Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, said the LORD of hosts. »
